The Bow river begins its journey toward Calgary in Banff National Park. The river is a popular recreational resource for locals who like to raft and fish in it. Record size trout are commonly caught just south of the city. Calgary's many neighborhoods also have their own small lakes which are used for recreational sailing in summer and then ice skating in winter. Plenty of indoor recreational facilities keep Calgarians active.
